Mending to Preserve: Exhibition Closing Celebration

Join us on Saturday, September 5, from noon to 5 p.m. for a closing celebration of Mending to Preserve, featuring artist-led tours and a DJ set by Selorm Attikpo, also known as Selormjay.
An Accra-based hip hop archivist, photographer, filmmaker and DJ, Selormjay brings the stories of Ghana’s hip hop scene to life through photography, mended artworks and archival materials. The exhibition honors the culture’s pioneers, challenges misconceptions and celebrates the connections that unite us across the diaspora.
At 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., Selormjay will lead guided tours, sharing the stories behind the work and inviting guests into conversation about hip hop, preservation and cultural identity. At 4 p.m., he’ll take his storytelling from the gallery walls to the turntables with a DJ set to close out the celebration.
Marking the culmination of Selormjay’s participation in ADAMA’s Bridge Residency, a collaboration with Villa Albertine, this exhibition invites us to see hip hop as a living history worth preserving.
