WHAT WE DO

EXPERIENCES

THE ADAMA WAY

CALL and RESPONSE

In many African traditions, the audience is an integral part of the production. We talk at our movies. We sing and dance at our concerts. This “call and response” engages and affirms. Rather than providing “programs” we create experiences that are dynamic, sensory-rich, and immersive.

ADAMA ARTS SALON

ADAMA Arts Salon is a series of conversations featuring contemporary artists, curators, scholars, and more from across the African Diaspora. Catch up on past episodes.

THE BRIDGE RESIDENCY

The Bridge Residency is a unique partnership with Villa Albertine, a French institution for arts and ideas in the United States. The Bridge highlights innovative ideas and projects by artists, curators, and scholars from across the African continent. Each year we invite 2-3 residents for a cultural exchange here in Atlanta.

PERMANENT: AN EXPERIENTIAL ARTS MOVEMENT

Permanent is a multidisciplinary art experience that activates works by African and African-American artists in permanent collections of various art institutions. In partnership with signature art objects, ADAMA and Komansé Dance Theater reinterpret works of art through dance, music, film and more.

MIDNIGHT OIL: SOUNDS OF CREATION

A curated experience featuring artists and the music that inspires them. We’ve invited artists from around the world to create music playlists that provide the soundtrack to their creative process. Tune in to rock out and learn more about these amazing artists!
