ADAMA Receives South Arts Cultural Sustainability Grant to Support Growth and Community Impact

Atlanta, GA — November 5, 2025

The African Diaspora Art Museum of Atlanta (ADAMA) is proud to announce that it has been selected as one of 17 organizations across the South to receive a Cultural Sustainability grant from South Arts, made possible through support from The Wallace Foundation and the U.S. Regional Arts Organizations.

The Cultural Sustainability program provides general operating support and collaborative learning opportunities for arts organizations rooted in communities of color. This vital initiative helps advance the well-being of arts institutions that have historically faced barriers to national funding, while fostering collective growth through themes such as repair, solidarity, healing, and preservation.

“Receiving this grant is both an honor and a validation of the work we do at ADAMA,” said Fahamu Pecou, Founder and Executive Director of ADAMA. “Our mission has always been to center the narratives, creativity, and contributions of the African Diaspora through contemporary art and dialogue. This investment allows us to deepen that work—strengthening our operations and sustaining the impact we have within Atlanta’s cultural landscape and beyond.”

Founded to celebrate and amplify art of the African Diaspora, ADAMA continues to build community through exhibitions, artist salons, public programs, and partnerships that explore identity, heritage, and innovation. This funding will directly support the museum’s continued growth, operational sustainability, and its vision to establish a permanent home for the institution.

The Cultural Sustainability program, launched in 2024, is part of a national initiative by The Wallace Foundation to support approximately 100 arts organizations across the country with $6.6 million in total funding. South Arts awarded more than $1.17 million across its nine-state region, with ADAMA representing Georgia among this year’s grantees.
