Passportal: Doorway to the Diaspora is an exclusive excursion for ADAMA village members. Our members explore the African Diaspora through curated cultural excursions centered around major art events, festivals and more. Each excursion is uniquely tailored to ensure a travel experience like no other.
Our 2023 experience brought 9 members to Marrakech, Morocco for the 1-54 Art Fair and exclusive look at Dr. Fahamu Pecou’s work and curated exhibition titled “In-Blackness.”
Passportal: Doorway to the Diaspora offers an exclusive adventure for ADAMA village members, providing them with unique cultural excursions and immersive experiences. On the 2023 excursion to Marrakech, Morocco, members embarked on a captivating journey through the vibrant city, connecting with its rich cultural heritage and artistic spirit.
From the moment of their arrival, the members were taken by the warmth and beauty of Marrakech. The adventure commenced with a welcoming dinner at Bab 54, where they were treated to an enchanting Dakha Marrakchia performance, immersing them in the essence of Moroccan culture and setting the stage for the remarkable experiences that lay ahead.
Throughout their time in Marrakech, members had the freedom to explore the local atmosphere and immerse themselves in the bustling Medina. They wandered through the colorful souks, discovering unique handicrafts and savoring the flavors of Moroccan cuisine at renowned establishments like Nomad and Le Jardin.
Art and culture took center stage during their journey, as the members attended artist talks, explored the prestigious 1-54 Art Fair, and experienced the thought-provoking "In-Blackness" exhibition curated by ADAMA Foudner, Dr. Fahamu Pecou. These encounters sparked conversations, deepened connections, and celebrated the power of artistic expression.
Members also embarked on a fascinating Medina walking tour, uncovering hidden gems and ancient palaces that showcased the city's rich heritage. Memorable evenings were spent at captivating venues like Cafe Arabe and Emeraude Camp, where the members delighted in the enchanting ambiance and exquisite dining experiences under the starlit sky.
As the excursion came to an end, the members had the opportunity for last-minute shopping, engaging with local artisans, and reflected on the profound impact of their journey. They departed Marrakech with a greater appreciation for the city's vibrant art scene, cultural richness, and the connections they had formed.

ADAMA will continue to provide space and new opportunities to explore, connect, and celebrate the vibrancy of global artistic expression across the African diaspora.
