ADAMA Announces Bold Fall 2025 Season: “Every Where We Go, There We Are”
PRESS RELEASE
From a museum without walls to a movement every where you go, ADAMA steps into its most powerful era yet.
ATLANTA, GA – The African Diaspora Art Museum of Atlanta (ADAMA) is proud to announce the launch of its Fall 2025 season, marking a defining moment in the museum’s history. Under the theme Every Where We Go, There We Are, this season reflects the evolution of ADAMA from its earliest days into a leading cultural force amplifying the art and stories of the African Diaspora.
“In just a few years, we’ve gone from having no exhibitions at all to curating shows that are drawing international attention,” says Dr. Fahamu Pecou, ADAMA’s founder and executive director. “Fall 2025 is not just a season—it’s a statement. We are here, we are thriving, and we are building spaces for our stories to shine.”
This season will feature two groundbreaking exhibitions:
Patacones, Paintbrushes, and Power (Sept. 5 – Nov. 2)
This vibrant exhibition celebrates the legacy of Taller Portobelo on Panama’s Caribbean coast and its role in uniting African American and Afro-Latin artists. Through painting, performance, and cultural exchange, the exhibit showcases how cross-cultural creativity fuels activism, identity, and lasting impact in the African Diaspora..Brother, Brother: The Interior Lives of Black Men Featuring Select Works from the CCH Pounder-Koné Collection (Nov. 14 – Jan. 16)
Featuring 30 works from the distinguished CCH Pounder-Koné Collection, the exhibition presents diverse and nuanced portraits of Black masculinity by artists from across the African Diaspora. From contemporary Caribbean painting to traditional African sculpture, Brother, Brother offers glimpses into the rarely considered intimate and interior lives of Black men—challenging stereotypes and expanding the ways their humanity is seen, felt, and understood.
Alongside the exhibits, the ADAMA Arts Salon will return with a dynamic lineup of conversations featuring artists, curators, and scholars from across the Diaspora. This fall’s sessions will take place on:
Sept. 7, Sept. 21, Oct. 5, Oct. 19, Nov. 2, and Nov. 16.
This fall, the ADAMA Arts Salon will present an inspiring series of conversations that extend the themes of our exhibitions and spotlight voices shaping the African Diaspora’s cultural landscape. Audiences can expect intimate, thought-provoking dialogues—like a reunion between Dr. Renee Alexander Craft and Dr. Arturo Lindsay reflecting on the origins and global impact of the Taller Portobelo Art Colony; a deep dive with filmmaker Ebony Blanding into the evolving representation of Black girls and women in film; a discussion curated by author Irvin Weatherby exploring the intersection of arts education and activism; and a conversation led by Lauren Tate Baeza examining the artistic and economic ties between Atlanta and South Africa. Together, these salons create a vibrant forum for ideas, collaboration, and cultural exchange.
The 2025 Fall season affirms ADAMA’s commitment to building wealth, resources, and opportunity within our communities through art and cultural stewardship—especially at a time when arts funding is increasingly uncertain. These exhibitions and programs embody the museum’s mission to create spaces where African Diaspora stories are celebrated, preserved, and amplified for generations to come.
ADAMA’s Best Era Yet
Over the past seasons, ADAMA has grown from an emerging voice in the cultural landscape to a driving force shaping how Atlanta experiences and engages with Black art. The Fall 2025 season marks a turning point—one where Every Where We Go, There We Are becomes more than a theme; it’s a declaration of presence, pride, and global connection. It’s a call to champion our stories, to make space for our voices, and to ensure that the culture we create today becomes the legacy we leave for tomorrow.
Fall 2025 programming runs from September through November.
