Seen Journal platforms nuanced and rigorous writing by and about the global majority.
Moderator: Errin Haines is editor at large and a founding mother of The 19th, a nonprofit, independent newsroom focused on the intersection of gender, politics and policy. Errin was previously national writer on race and ethnicity for The Associated Press. Errin’s expertise on issues of race, gender and politics make her a thought leader in her industry
Maori Holmes: Holmes founded BlackStar Film Festival and serves as Chief Executive & Artistic Officer of BlackStar Projects. She has organized film programs and exhibitions at Anthology Film Archives, Barnes Foundation, MOCA, ICA Philadelphia, and Whitney Museum. She is also a filmmaker with directing and producing credits. BlackStar creates the spaces and resources needed to uplift the work of Black, Brown and Indigenous artists working outside of the confines of genre. We do this by producing year-round programs including film screenings, an annual film festival, a filmmaker seminar, and a journal of visual culture – Seen.
The ADAMA Arts Salon is a signature conversation series featuring contemporary artists, curators, scholars, and cultural leaders from across the African Diaspora. Each Salon creates space for thoughtful dialogue, shared learning, and meaningful community connection.
